01
Design for recognition and trust
The recipient should understand why the message arrived, which Shopify purchase or promotion it relates to, who operates the program, and where to find authoritative terms.
Brand continuity matters, but the communication must not blur the identities of the merchant, issuer, network, or service provider.
02
Plan access without exposing secrets
Access patterns should account for forwarded emails, changed devices, expired links, shared inboxes, and support verification. Sensitive card or identity information should never be placed in ordinary marketing analytics or URLs.
03
Test the recipient journey
Review the experience across common mobile and desktop contexts, accessibility needs, message filtering, and the transition from merchant communication to provider-controlled screens.
Success includes comprehension and recoverability, not only delivery confirmation.
